According to Ars Technica, Apple is embedding your Itunes account information into the DRM free songs. Probably, they have included it to track back any misuse. Apart from the fact that the information can be easily spoofed, there is another privacy issue in play here (as noted by Ars Technica towards the end of the article). Suppose if you take your DRM free music in an external hard drive and listen with your friend’s Itunes, there is a good possibility for Apple to know this. In fact, any player/gadget can track this information. There is a potential to track your life based on your music listening habits. I do agree that they may want to stop the abuse of DRM-free music but they can do better than this.
